Farewell Ian Cornelius!
Published: 27 July 2022
Today marks a new chapter for Apollo, a H.B. Fuller business, as we say farewell to Ian Cornelius, the Managing Director for the last seven years as he relinquishes leadership responsibilities and takes retirement after nearly three decades at the company.
Ian joined Apollo in 1994 as an Account Manager and was promoted to Sales Manager in 2000. He became Sales & Marketing Director in 2011, playing a pivotal role in leading our growth in the flat roofing sector and company as a whole. Appointed Managing Director in 2015, Ian has since enhanced our strategic approach and significantly grew Apollo into a £40+ million business.
During his time leading Apollo, Ian built and led the Leadership Team and introduced our vision and core values. Recently, he steered the team through the difficult times of the Covid-19 pandemic and also played a key part in our acquisition by H.B. Fuller, ensuring we are geared for further growth under the EIMEA Construction Adhesives business of H.B. Fuller led by Ralph Kussmann.
Ian Cornelius says “It has been a truly incredible journey. I feel tremendously honoured and privileged to have had the opportunity to lead such a talented team and wonderful business. I would like to express my deep gratitude and appreciation to colleagues, customers, and suppliers past and present for their role in making Apollo what it is today.”
“I leave safe in the knowledge that under Ralph’s care along with the outstanding skills of the leaders and wider management team, the Construction Adhesives business can only go from strength to strength.”
Ralph Kussmann adds that “Ian is a truly outstanding leader who has built a solid business and a high performing leadership team. His ability to quickly solve problems and inspire others has played a pivotal role in Apollo’s achievements. Ian has been instrumental in ensuring we continue the success story together with our employees and customers by capitalizing on Apollo’s innovative technologies and superior technical expertise in UK and now increasingly across the European continent.”
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Ian for his 28 years at the company. He will be greatly missed by all at Apollo, and remembered for his drive, determination and care for not only the growth of the company but the development of the individual employees.
Moving forward, Ian will be supporting H.B. Fuller on a consultancy basis, and also embarking on other coaching and mentoring roles.
Please join us is wishing Ian all the best for the future.
